Alumi

by joy-vincent

March 18, 2008

77 icons of aluminum design. I worked on this set for 3 full days (almost non stop). But I'm glad to present to you: ALUMI! This is a set based on the aluminum design of Apple. This is also the first iconset I've created, did a lot of research how to get the pixels sharp at all sizes (16, 32, 128, 256 and off course 512). I think I spend the most time on the smaller sizes.

Document, App, Font, Delete, Connect, Get Info, Burn, Eject, Generic, Open, Home, Smart, Burnable, Desktop, Sites, System, Documents, Download, Group, Library, Movies, Music, Pictures, Apps, Utilities, Users, Public, Developer, Search, Empty Trash, Full Trash, Finder, Server, iDisk, Network, Airport Disk, Sharepoint, External HDD, Internal HDD, Removable Disk, Time Machine Disk, Firewire HD, Usb HD, CD-R, CD-RW, CD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, DVD, BD, BD-R, BD-RE, HD-DVD, HD-DVD-R, HD-DVD-RAM, HD-DVD-RW, Clipping sound, Clipping text, Clipping Unknown, Clipping Picture, Locations AFP, Locations File, Locations FTP, Locations Generic, Locations HTTP, Locations Mailto, Locations News.

Great work. I'd like to see separate sidebar icons included though ;-) Maybe an expansion pack?

I found a download with individual pngs here: http://freevistaicon.com/dock-icons/alumi-icon-pack

It's odd that people spend so much time making nice icons and then only release them in a single format for a single platform/application.

nice icons! and I think you deserve more than just comments!

Keep up the good job, by the way, if the folder icons would have "open status", that will be even better (I know, I'm asking too much from an already awesome set)

you can use Liteicon to change all of them. you have to drag them into the application window, but it is a little easier than cmnd-v IMO. you can find it here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/icons_screensavers/liteicon.html

These icons are beautiful! Is there any way to change my "Create New Folder" option so that a folder design of my choice (in this case -- "Generic") appears instead of the default APPLE New Folder Icon? Let me know! THANKS! AWESOME COLLECTION!

- JJLFusion

P.S. This comment and question pertains to my OS X Tiger 10.4.11 PowerBook G4. I also have a brand new iMac on which I would like to use these icons. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Use Candybar *cough* torrent *cough* Its the best plus it works with Tiger unlike Liteicon.
One you get Candybar go file then open iContainer and open this file i made: http://www.uploading.com/files/CXY7Z64T/Alumi_icontainer.icontainer.html

There are no separate sidebar icons which is a huge disappointment. Please include them as it looks sorta weird without them.

The icontainer also works with Liteicon

To use them, press Info (command + I ) over a folder or what ever file you'd like to use the icon, then just copy the icon & paste it over the small icon on top of the Information table. Voila !!

these are awesome buy it would be great if you made some for the other icons on the dock such as safari, ichat, ical, address book, spaces, sys preferences, time machine, mail, dashboard, itunes, preview, iphoto, garageband, aim, and photoshop so that everything looks the same that would be great.
