This set of icons rock the only thing is that there are no folder icons but it's still a good set of icons.

Hey- maybe this is a really dumb question- but with WindowsXP... how the heck do you install this icon pack?

I can't even find how to install them after searching on the internet... could you help point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

Regarding your question, I'm not really a PC expert, since I use Mac, but at work I have to use one.

In my short experience with changing the default icons in Windows, I've used the program Custom Icons (http://iconempire.com/custom-icons/index.htm), it's a trial version, but you might want to buy it later or get the serial somewhere else. Other programs like Icon Packager are also recommended.

There you can manually change the icons from their defaults, but you have to be careful to put the icons you've downloaded and unzipped in a folder that you won't move again, because Windows will look for the new icons there all the time.

I hope this info was useful, I don't know if I can help you with more detailed information, because, as I said before, I'm not really a PC Windows expert.

Regards,
Michael M.

Hey Michael. You might want to make your icons Vista compatible (256x256) so that they show up nice and big in the explorer window =)

Hey Michael, these are great icons! I really love them. Would you release either the font you used on the icons or the GIMP/Photoshop source files you used if I want to add icons for some extensions that you left out? If so, I'll post them on here with attribution to you. Thanks!

Thank you for your comments elwoodjblues42!

I didn't had plans to release the source files of this icon set, but I might be able to help you with the file extensions you require.

Great icons Michael!
Would you please make them in 256x256 px, in .ico or .png?
In vista the .ico format handling has change and if the icon file doesn't have a 256x256 image, it doesn't display it right. Thnx!

TO integrate these on XP you just go into a folder and click on Tools --> Folder Options --> and then select the last tab "File Types" and select the file or files you want to change. When you highlight a file an icon option should appear and then just select the icon from where ever you have uncompressed the new icons. You need to do one icon at a time. It is time consuming but looks good when you're done. Its either this get an icon repackager.

Wonderful job! These icons are distinct enough from one another to be useful, yet subtle enough they don't get tiresome to use day after day. So, thanks for sharing the fruits of your labor; my desktop looks all the better for it!

For those interested, the collection available from the artist's site (http://www.iconiza.com/downloads/) includes a PDF icon, too.
