Ah, autumn. I look forward to it every year, but the gloriously blazing colors fade so soon. That nip in the air inevitably grows wider and deeper. The ground was lightly covered by snow this morning.

I keep a folder of graphic snippets and chunks that haven't fit other designs but are still a bit nifty. This "bud" began as one of those scraps. To me it looked like the promise of some fantastic bloom or untouched pigment daubed on an artist's palette. Now they're some of both, placed against polished stone for contrast. Here they are.
