AOL has announced an icon design contest for it's AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) application.

It’s time to sexify our icons and we thought we’d have a little fun and kick it up a notch. We’re going to let our readers, users, and the like, help us design some icons for the IM app that you’ve all grown up with and love! This past year, we’ve really fine tuned the look and feel and chrome of the application with fun and colorful themes, so we’d like to show our icons some TLC and give it the attention it deserves.

The AIM Iconography Contest starts today and will run from October 9th to November 6, 2007 through Top Coder Studio. Please visit their website to read the rules and regulations. The goal of the competition is to create a set of icons to be used in the application and accross the AIM Network. And of course, there is a sweet prize at the end.

1.) Your work will be seen by millions of friends, other users of AIM Chat Client and accross the AIM Network.

2.) $$$$$$$, of course.
