I'm a Technical Evangelist for Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, Washington. I'm not a professional photographer by any means, but I would consider myself a photography enthusiast. Most of the older macro images that I use for wallpaper were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 5700. I now have a Canon Rebel XT with a 60mm macro lens, and I use it for most of the newer shots.

I've found that an otherwise fantastic photo doesn't always make good desktop wallpaper. Too much detail and your icons get lost. So, I tend to purposely work with a limited depth of field to throw a lot of the image out of focus.
