Just curious--what program did you use to make this and how do you make it?
insightful

The only program I used was Adobe Photoshop CS3. To make the pattern, I created a small image that could be tiled, and then I did Edit -> Define Pattern... Then you can use that as a fill. After that, I just filled in individual cells. Thanks for the vote, and enjoy!

I don't take any offense so don't worry. Just as a suggestion though, if you are going to slam something or somebody, at least provide some sort of advice to fix it. If you never tell someone what they are doing wrong, and how to do it right, how do you ever expect them to do anything different?

Interesting.. Reminds me of Spider-man's suit, haha. It's a little plain though, in my opinion. Maybe if you made the hexagons that make up the snowflake glossy or make them look 3D or something, might make it not look so flat. cool tho

I kinda like it! I think I'm going to grab it and toy with the color a bit to see if I can make it a bit more lively! Thanks for the post :)

I would not say this is the worst on this site as a comparison like that doesn't serve a useful purpose. What I WILL say is that the piece is boring. While I'm not trying to downplay any thought processes that may have occurred leading up to the final piece, but you yourself have explained how simple the creation is and I think the result reflects that. Of course, simple is not always limited to being a negative aspect, but I would say in this case it is.

OK, awful was a bit harsh dude - sorry! To me it looks like it took you about 5 minutes to fill out the snowflake, then vary the grey across different parts of the picture. I don't see anything to get or keep interest. What might be cooler is if you made the hexagon 'piece' smaller, then had various sizes and pattern of snowflake and sprayed them randomly around a bit. Then perhaps put up different shaded versions of the image - y'know, even brown for the ubuntu folks, etc.

Agaskew, you're an idiot. Your posts alone are enough evidence.
Anyways, this is an awesome wallpaper. I like the clean, minimalistic look. Don't listen to these people telling you put random patterns and stuff. I think the beauty lies in it's subtle shades of grays, symmetry, and hexagonal pattern. A couple words to describe this wallpaper: cool, calm, clean, and modern. Good stuff.
I think a dark blue version would be great as well. Do you think you could make one in 1280x1024?

Hello, I love this image. It has been my background image on all my computers since 2009.
It's very simple yet stylish and the grey tone is the best for graphics work since it is not distracting.
I just got a 38" ultra wide monitor 3840x1600 and the image is too small and stretches really badly. By any change would you be willing to create a new hi-res version, maybe 4k and ultra wide?

Hello. I've been using this image as background on all my computers since 2009. It's simple, extremely stylish and specially unobtrusive with it's mid tone grey (a must for graphics and photo work).
Since I just bought an ultra wide 38" monitor, it would be nice if you could make a 3840x1600 version or maybe provide the psd file (I'm willing to donate a small fee).
Thank you for such a good image that has given me so many good years of use.
