The tree trunks make me want to tilt my head to look at this, and the background in general clashes with the flowers. I would ave done a close up of a flower, this is just too busy. They are pretty flowers though.

Maybe it is just me but I think the original would have looked better. Care to post it?

I actually had submitted the original a long time ago and nothing ever came of it. To be honest, I do love this site, but I have to question their intentions. To date, I have submitted around 70 high-quality, high-resolution photos, and "this" one made it up out of everything else I consider to be of a much higher caliber. i.e. if you were to look at the photography on my website, I submitted a good chunk of those in 2560x1600 resolutions. Regardless, here is the original - http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2038/2078619080_41f539599c_b.jpg

To be honest, I'm not that crazy about the picture. I hate being critical of other people's work but the reason I say this is because after looking at your website, you have a lot of really good photos. I think we're in the same boat here because like you, I've submitted a ton of good, high quality photos and the only one I've had accepted was probably one of my weakest submissions. Like you too, I love this site, but there are times when I'll submit something that I think should be accepted and it doesn't while someone else's picture gets accepted and it leaves me scratching my head.

No hard feelings because I'm with you all the way. I hope some of the ones you've submitted to be worthy do make it up.

I agree with you about the powers that be here. I submitted several excellent wallpapers and they picked the one to post that was the weakest. Everything I submitted was of a higher caliber than a lot of what I see here lately. On the same token, a lot of what has been posted is much better than my own. I like a variety of images and styles so it's not that I want the typical night shots or scenic mountain landscapes, I just want a visually appealing photo that adheres to the most basic photo composition guidelines. Go ahead and stretch the limit and see what comes of it but the moderators here seem to have taken a giant step backwards of late. I've posted many of my own work on my own website that I just started about a week ago. It's not totally complete but feel free to check out some of my images at www.jeffpicard.com

I don't know why you could not like this picture.

I absolutley LOVE it. And to be honest...it's my favourite on this site.
...
...wish I could've taken a picture like that.

I really, really, really like this picture.

I can see how some people might not (as it is really busy) but I, personally, love the colors and the composition.

GREAT picture in my opinion - keep on submitting them!

Honestly, Krystina, I prefer the original as well... And I've run into the same problem with this site. Photos that won contests of mine have not been posted, but a few, that I would say was me just messing around, somehow made it. Its hard to figure out what they like and don't like. Keep up the good work regardless.
