Washed Away
September 18th, 2008
I just got my first Corkin filters and thought I might go make the best of a good sunset. I headed out to the coast and took a bunch of different shots, this one caught my eye as I went back through my camera. I hope you like it!

THAT is a very cool effect for a sunset. One would think before viewing the image at full size that a washed-out look is the worst effect that can be applied to a sunset, but in reality it lets the details of the rocks and the color of the water pop out at you! I like it a lot; unfortunately, it doesn't fit me because my laptop has green accents and so I stick with complementary wallpapers.

I did notice that some screens (PC screens) don't agree with this shot. But the detail on my Mac screen is great. I had to brighten it up heaps to accommodate the PC & Mac screens.

The thumbnail does not do any justice for this image. When I viewed it in original size I was stunned with detail and all the elements in it married pretty well. Even though I wish the sunset was more punchy like we get here in NW Pennsylvania over the lake Erie but this is excellent nevertheless. In my humble opinion this image may be a little too bright based on the setting. This is a great image keep up your great work I love your previous submission a lot it's still on my desktop very often.

Great wallpaper. Where did you take this photo? Looks like just north of Freo but can't quite get my bearings.

This is my first time commenting. I'd have a more detailed Biography, but I couldn't type more than about 1 sentence worth. Anyway, I'm not a photographer, but a musician. A drummer, to be exact. But, it's all art.
Anyway, I like how the water looks in the foreground. It almost looks like a professional painting. In fact, it's almost electrical looking. I love it! Since I have removed all my desktop icons just for the 1680x1050 wallpapers here at InterfaceLift, I know I will enjoy this in my WallPaper Master rotation!! I can clearly see why it caught your eye. Nice work!

WOW! I love how the water looks, it looks so violent compared to the rocks. The sky is beautiful and the sharpness in the rocks contrast the softness of the water very well. Nice job :D

That is a really cool picture! Love the way the water looks especially its color. The rocks looks really sharp (and not just in the photographic sense!)

Although the color of the entire sky is pale(Sepia tone effect) but
we also see the water's colorful wave that hit the rocks, it looks
real.
many thanks to you for sharing this nice picture.

If I waited more? The sunset on this particular day wasn't hot enough, being the start of Spring in Australia - it's not until summer we get those long bold sunsets. I shot this about half an hour past sunset, it was basically dark, the reason for the filter...to give some colour to the sky. Each to there own I guess.

And this is why it's rude (and a waste of our own time) to say "it would've been better if you had done this instead", or, "I don't like the way you did this." We should instead accept somebody's work as it's presented and assume that it's perfect as is, and that every last detail is intentional. Who are we to say "here's how I think your creation could be better"? Let's say what we like about it, and move on. Why waste your personal time and energy saying what you don't like, or how it could've been done better? It would be different if the author were LOOKING for such advice. But in this case, he isn't. He's just saying, "enjoy.", not "judge this and tell me how I could've done it better. In fact, tell me how you would've done it because your way is better than mine." I'm sorry, but I would love to see some respect of the authors while accepting their work the way it is unless they say otherwise. Let us just assume that they don't need help or advice unless they ask for it.

This picture looks amazing! Criticism, when needed is good, but,in my opinion, there is nothing to improve. Now, those who know more about photography may find error, but to my only partially trained eye, it is flawless

Well once again a really good photograph with the usual suspects telling you what you should have done when they weren't there, etc. I like this, in fact I like all of your submissions on here. Don't you mean Cokin filters and not Corkin? Cokin seems to be misspelled a lot with the r.

Hey, first time posting a comment on this website. This is by far one of my most favorite pictures I have ran into so far. The colors are great imo. Had to put it on the desktop!
