I really like this. It reminds me of the old Technicolor Epics. You should clean your sensor though. There's dirt marks in both the upper corners.

NOT GOOD - too plastic!!! Reminds me of windows desktops. What a boring Microsoft joy.

I've circled the dirt spots here: http://www.appliedperspective.com/dirtydesert.jpg

I'm guessing there are probably actually more, but many have faded away with the post processing done. There are some very good tutorials for proper sensor cleaning online if you don't know how. I'm guessing your problems could probably be cleared up with just a rocket blower.

I really like the peacefulness and simplicity of the wallpaper. It's not distracting (plain deserts rarely are) and it lets you get on with your work rather than disturb you. And the best part is - in all its "desertness" it looks nice and fits nicely in many different desktops (i meant - fits with many colors themes and visual styles)

I must be blind or mad, because I can't see any dirt on this photo at all. I can see maybe there is a barely noticible smudge somewhere. Anyway I use a sensorklear pen for my sensor and it works a treat.

I hate to be a spoilsport but is it my imagination that some of the detail in the dunes is blown out? The color of the sky is not as appealing as it might be. Otherwise I really like the shot. Just my two cents.

@stubulman

Yeah, I think some of the highlights in the sand are a tad blown out, but I'm perfectly ok with that because it doesn't detract from the photo at all. A technically precise photo doesn't always equate to an aesthetically pleasing one. And the color of the sky looks good desaturated and color adjusted the way it is, it makes it go really well with the sand color.

Dave, I agree with you. If everything were done "technically" and by the numbers, there would very little art. I was immediately struck by panchro's desert shot. It is at the same time, stark, sterile and beautiful. I accept your comments with good grace. By the way, my wife complains about my pickiness too.
