Golden State Poppies
By bfisher

I snapped this shot of some California golden poppies (the state flower) as I was walking around. I liked the beautiful orange and yellow colors of the petals on the green background. The DOF was just what I wanted.

As far as I'm concerned, one of the best macro shots on IFL! It's just fantastic. The colors are brilliant and the focus and perspective are stunning! Amazing job! Sitting proudly on my desktop to represent my favorite state!

What a lovely shot. The poppies are all facing the same direction, probably in a effort to collect the light of the sun. Very comforting mood.

The thumbnail doesn't do it justice. I didn't think it'd be anything special based on the thumbnail (unlike so many others on this site, where the thumbnail is much nicer), but once I opened a higher resolution, it really is a great shot. Good job.

I almost never put macro shots on my desktop, but this is simply beautiful. You can even see the pollen collected inside the petals! Great work.

This is a wonderful shot. The colors are fantastic, the depth of field is perfect, the flowers themselves are phenomenal specimens, and the angle is a really nice touch. I imagine this being my background for quite some time.

Stubulman, if you mean, taken with a Macro lens, no. This shot was taken with a 18-70mm ED lens.
