This is an absolutely amazing shot. When I saw this in The Loupe I had to vote for it. This will accompany my Windows 7 desktop perfectly, thanks!

The picture is amazing. I found this place on the map, so far out in the middle of no where I love it. You are very luck to have visited there. Do you have family there or just a vacation? I also made this my background first thing. VERY WELL DONE

this is indeed a beautiful scene, I would love to walk this area, BUT, there are artefacts in the clouds, with the majority being on the left hand side of the image.

OhlinO, actually i live in madeira island, so its easy to get to that mountain. Next Monday i will do a hike between Areeiro and Ruivo (highest mountains in the island).
Thanks!
Thanks!

Very nice - straight into the wallpaper folder.
If I have a slight criticism it that the saturation of the grass in the foreground is slightly (only slightly!) over saturated, but that's certainly not enough to stop me loving the picture.
9 stars out of 10 :)

Am I the only one begging to differ? While it is indeed a very good picture, it does not stun me as other recently added do.
Many have argued that HDR is not particularly fit to landscapes, I think this opinion has merit, as HDR brings odd unnatural feelings in a nature setting. Not impossible, but trickier than a urban landscape for example.

I agree. For once we have an example of HDR where the image manipulation isn't obvious and the results aren't artificial. Rare indeed. Keep up the good work.

I've got to admit that my initial reaction was: "Oh great, another sunset." Then I downloaded and it and did a complete 180. This is beautiful. It's earned a place in my wallpaper turnstile.

I'm not so keen. The setting is magnificent but the HDR, again, takes away from the naturalness of the picture.
I guess I'm in a minority about the attraction of HDR. :(
Can we see a non-HDR version anywhere ?

Tony,
I found the grass in the foreground lacked something. I isolated it and monkeyed around with the shadow/highlight control in PS3 and gave the midtone contrast a little boost. I found it balanced the image a little better.
Great shot @MasterChief!

I love this shot!
If I had one criticism it would be that the black point needs to be shifted as the HDR effect has cut the contrast. I adjusted the curves in PS, now it may be a while before I change wallpapers!

Great composition, but it could be slightly more contrasty. Also, there is a bit of distracting posterization in the sky (esp. upper right corner).

This is great.
I disagree with those who say there is posterization:
Using a 2490wuxi calibrated with i1D2 it is perfect.
You may want to take a look @ your monitor first :)
