Glad to see this one through - I voted for it on the Loupe.

The left justification of the focal point of the image makes it a perfect wallpaper for Macs!

Excellent image and helps keep up the variety on IFL too.

Since when did the focal point of a picture determine the suitability of a wallpaper for a particular OS?

ever since a particular OS defaults to putting their desktop icons on different sides

To be quite honest, I'd have loved the picture without the house, I'm kind of... a hater of anything built by humans in my wallpapers.

Still a really nice picture.

Thanks for all the comments, of course it's not made for a special OS ;)

@peter: The house can be rent by people for a romantic stay (as the advertisement says), I have never been inside but it is a real nice play with a great view.

this is really a beautiful photo, the brighter colors of the cottage really make it stand out against the more subtle colors of the background... well done!

Finally! I was already amazed by this pic in the loupe and now I can see it in even greater detail! Awesome!

I get a strong feeling of absolute absurdity when I look at this. It's strangely surreal, like post-apocalyptic meets the rich and overly-saturated world of Alice in Wonderland...with just a bit of Stardust thrown in there as well.

Fabulous. Great print.

I happened to find the same view but with the house towards the right of the focal point. See link:

It has a different more sunny feel to it. I still prefer this picture however.

The foreground, I don't like much. Too toy-like, not realistic, overdone HDR.
But the background is amazing! Perfect clarity, perfect lighting, beautiful clouds, mountains, valley! I for one would much like a short guide on the techniques you used to do this.

The feeling of wide open space and freedom is great. Reminds me of this Yosemite one: http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper_beta/details/1336/exit_yosemite.html

Very cool !
HDR editing adds some surreal touch to it.
I like it very much.

is the strange white glow around the roof of the house the result of photoshopping or just an optical illusion form high contrast? it looks kinda strange

The foreground is overdone. But the background is really stunning!
Do you have a picture of just the background?
Posted By: pixelfly
@Iraimbilanja
The picture is a combination of the original one and a hdr from a raw, so I tried not to get this very unreal hdr effect, perhaps it fits not everyones taste but I also don't like too unrealistic looking hdr images.

@Kodiakcr
The glow is a result of the higher contrast and the hdr workflow, I tried to keep it low but that was a bit tricky ;)

I have some other shots from this evening without the cottage but I the background is always different cause of the other point of views and the fast changing light situation.

You picked the perfect time of day to take this photo. The lighting in the background is magnificent.

It looks more like the end of the world than anything romantic to me!

Has anyone played Tekken 5? This is what the final stage looks like... minus the windows with hearts.

I like how the gutters of the cottage are made out of half hollow logs. Great picture!

I love this submission. There is another user on here who this reminds me a lot of their work. This just makes me feel like I am looking out a window to real life and all I have to do is reach out and touch it.

I don't comment on photo's much, but this is one of the best photo's I've seen on here and I visit the site daily for the last couple years.

Great Job, can't wait for my SLR with ISO Bracketing!

nicepics said: "Since when did the focal point of a picture determine the suitability of a wallpaper for a particular OS?"

Sorry - could perhaps have been clearer. I didn't mean 'focal point' in the photographic sense.

I simply meant that the main focus of the image - the house - is on the left hand side, and Macs principally default to having icons on the right of the screen (whereas Windows chooses the left side), hence the positioning of the elements of this picture are naturally more conducive to use on a Mac if, like me, your desktop is cluttered with lots of icons!

Just saying, that's all!

Definetly maybe ;) one of my top 10.

I'm normally not a fan of over-processed photos, but it gets a green card from me. Environment alone makes an impression, but the light rays and shadows make the composition finally completely irresistible.

Great job for making me stray from my consciousness

I have to agree with @Iraimbilanja. I think the background is magical whereas the foreground doesn't do the trick for me. HDR reminds of the artwork available at "Starving Artists" sales, pandering to the melodramatic.
