Illuminated

February 27th, 2010

view across Lake Hawea, New Zealand, just before sunset. I had hoped for some nice reflections here but the wind was just too strong.

Canon EOS 40D, Sigma 10-20.

Chris, your photos are so annoying because I have to clean my computer screen within a molecule of dust every time you submit a new one so as to see them in their intended glory. Bravo on this one - it is truly spectacular.

Thanks guys.

@firefly, I apologize for making you clean your monitor so often :) Actually I should clean mine (or get a new one). There have been a few times when I've tried to clone out some dust spots on my photos only to find the dust is on the monitor.....

Dang, Chris! Very nice work. The clouds appear to be exploding out of the mountains in all directions. This is indeed a glorious shot. What a pleasing picture for the desktop.

I actually like the lack of reflection, and the movement of the water.

I usually wince at hyperbole on this site, but this photo really has something special going for it. Every time I close my windows, I see this thing and think "woah"! Can't put my finger on it.

Wow. Where ya been, Gin? This is just great. It made me check out your Loupe submissions, which led me to your website. The site is tremendous. Whoever put that together, knows their stuff more than most. Just brilliant. But, while the site left me in a state of design nirvana, all of your images left me with an unanswered yearning. You have literally several dozen images on your page that I want as wallpapers, and it'll be years before they all make it through here—with IFL being fair and all. I don't suppose you crop every photo into a 1280x800 resolution before stock them away do you? :-) I'll say it again (at least I think I've said it before), you need your own wallpaper site. You've got the chops and material to pull it off. You can be the Godiva chocolate icing to IFL's flour-less double-fudge cake.

the website is just a flash template that you can get cheap. nice pic, at least better than than 2 of the other 3 ones before. still think there are tons of better ones in the loupe

@trout, glad you like the website and photos. I will probably only submit of a few more of my current photos to IFL, but I have a photography trip planned in May so hopefully I'll have some new ones then.

Thanks again for the comments guys.

Chris, let me just say I know you can't wait until Summer!

But I'm one of your biggest fans and appreciate your consistency on IL.

I kept Autumn Lake as my desktop well into Winter. Great stuff.
