Air Transat vs Storm Cloud
April 21st, 2010
Back in July 2008 I was taking a break from work and went out on the roof of my office building with my camera. Little did I know there would be a huge storm cloud looking East which was almost in the path of airplanes attempting to land.
Canon EOS 40D, 17-85mm EF-S USM IS lens. Developed in Adobe Lightroom 2. Scaling and adjustments in Adobe Photoshop CS4.

That's quite an angle! How tall is your office building? Well done and in agreement with darkdayz85 on getting aviation shots back in the spotlight.

I love this shot and hoped to download it! It reminds me a scene of "The day after tomorrow". But i see some kind of strange effect on the upper part of the photo. There are some streams looking like ghosts!

Thanks every one for your kind comments.
My building is extremely tall, with 4 stories :-)
This storm cell was growing up on the horizon, and with the full zoom on the modest 17-85mm, I was able to frame it that way. I was lucky that, at the time, no obstructions were in front of me. Here is a wide shot in b&w:

And when I mention "scaling", I mean sizing the picture down to IFL standards.
Enjoy the summer, and get your camera ready for those upcoming storm cells!!

Great photo, Philippe. I hope you follow your own advice and get to capture some of those colossal Alberta storms for us this summer.

I love this picture.
The cloud is and the contrasts are amazing.
Very nice
If you upload such a picture again with a plane, you should remove the wheels of the plane. (by the way - just fineness:D)
And sorry for bad english I'm a german^^...
