I used procedural textures in Cinema4D and turned everything to max!

Looks more like a dendritic cell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dendritic_cell) than a virus. Viruses are much smaller than cells.

Also, I really like this wallpaper! It has a "The Inner Life of the Cell"-esque feel to it.
