Mazatlá® Sunset
By Goomba
March 24th, 2011
This shot was taken off of a cruise ship leaving Mazatlán, Mexico just in time for sunset. It was well worth fighting through the hoards of people at the head of the boat to get a few clear shots such as this one. This is one of my first desktops made out of my own photography, so please play nice... All constructive criticism you have to say is highly encouraged! I'm new at this. :)
Canon EOS 50D, Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Nice one! Wish the boats weren't there and the horizon line was a bit more off center but still a keeper. The colors in the light and the water reflections are awesome! Thanks Goomba keep it up!

I think this was a great place to be, and you chose the perfect moment to take this photo.
But with that kind of camera i think the result could be better, sharper even though i'm not a photographer and i don't know how you could do :P

Thanks everyone for the comments and favorites! I'm going to look in to see if this really is Cabo, because that's a possibility. Unfortunately, I have submitted this to multiple places so I'm going to have to be busy for a little bit changing them all. XD Nonetheless, this still isn't the worst "user error" I've had this week. :)

This is a beautiful shot and the colors are wonderful. I personally don't mind the boats.
I do have an issue with how blurry the photograph is. It's hard to believe this was shot on a 50D. Maybe it's just out of focus or you zoomed in too much without a tripod. When I put it up on my 2560x1600 cinema display it looks completely blown out and noisy.

I really like this image. Went straight on my desktop as soon as I saw it in my Dashboard widget. The colours are really nice, they are very inspiring.
My only piece of constructive criticism would be that the 'rocks' are blurry slightly. It needs to be a bit sharper in focus for it to truly pop out of the screen.
As some people have said, you could perhaps clone out the boats next time. Overall, I like this image, and look forward to your future submissions. Mark

Nice soft colours and the rocks look reasonably interesting.
As others have pointed out the quality issues are apparent when viewed large. My guess is the heavy noise reduction which was necessary because the photo was taken with a high ISO (1600).
Also watch out for the blown highlights in the sky.

A surreal picture. Great shot. Captures the time, people and place.
to bad the ship was not there earlier. A little light on those rocks would rock. ;)

Also on a sidenote, isnt this cabo san lucas not Mazatlan as you said in the description, swear it looks a lot like the rock jut out near the arch in cabo.
