i took this shot beside a lake. It was summer time and I was inspired to take a picture of the sunset.

I might be biased, but I don't think IFL should have images that aren't of the highest quality. This one clearly misses the mark at all but the smallest resolutions. And the horizon is tilted, as mentioned above.

This photo isn't bad in terms of its artistic merit. The composition and subject matter are interesting and the mood is soothing.
However, I have to agree with Daddy Gemini; the quality is lacking.

Being more pleasant, although D_G was accurate, I very much like the image and subject; pretty much 'a can't go wrong shot time of day'.
Better cam / sharper focus - slight slant works fine and may be more interesting

The setting, it's perfect as well as the time of day.
This photo has all the right ingredients for a great picture except for the crooked horizon and a the lack of a higher resolution camera. It is just really difficult to get great quality images from a point and shoot. I can think of one good point and shoot photo on this website and it's the mountain shot from a plane. Had this been from an SLR camera and a straight horizon this would of easily been one of the top tropical/sunset photos.

Awesome - listening to Summer Madness by Kool and the Gang and this fits right with it. IFL hand picks these pictures for a reason, I don't think it's hard to see why this one was selected despite it's "Imperfections" which can also be looked at as character. Reflections in the rippling water below the image make it seem even more real.
