Montreux

By nau
July 8th, 2011

Great sunset in the city of Montreux, Switzerland. Not an HDR, but I had to wait until the intensity of the sunlight was similar to the light of the castle.

Canon EOS 550D, Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.

The colors are great and the gradient beautiful ! I personally really like this part of Switzerland.

Actually, I just wanted to say it's spelled Montreux and not Montreaux, but anyway this picture shows the Castle of Chillon which is located at Veytaux and not at Montreux :-)

ups! FAIL. I didn't know about Veytaux and what a oversight with the extra "a". Sorry citizens of Montreux :) Thanks SiedleR

Good job balancing the light. It's an excellent shot, wherein the artificial light doesn't detract from the natural light.

I've no criticism here. The image was not over-processed, unlike so many we see these days.

I agree with everyone else that there is nothing wrong with this and looks very clean and balanced. The vignetting was done perfect. So many little things make this simple shot interesting, the lights from the city, the castle and the reflections from the castle and mountains. Good job on the minimal post-processing it looks perfect for what it is.

I visited this castle when I was 8 YO , (I'm now 62 !) and it has always been like a dream ... I have a postcard my father kept in one of his albums . Now I get the real thing on my desktop and I must say , it's quite moving me ... Thank you so much , the pic is awesome ...

I think this is going to be my next minecraft project if I can find a full picture of that castle.

I love Château-de-chillon! Typical castle from a medieval fairy tale. If you visit Montreau this castle is a must too.

I love this photo, and it doesn't seem like I am the only one.

I hope the photographer 'nau' has licensed his work to be used for advertisements because I did run into this:

Just thought I'd give you a heads up just in case.
