@HailNizar its a picnic blanket. We had the couple sit on the side of the truck.

Absolutely love it. Great original composition, great colours.

If it was me I would have cloned out the stuff on the ground to the left of the truck and probably the power poles and lines. But then again, that could be considered cheating. :)

I love this picture as well. I had already downloaded this one from the Loupe Downloads section; my computer was already "wearing" it. I wasn't sure if it would make it out of the loupe, but I'm really glad that it did. Great job! It is refreshingly different to say the very least. Thanks!

WOW, this picture is amazing. It's my wallpaper now!

I am not big on picking pictures apart, I think this shot is fantastic.

Thank you all for your encouraging comments! It did take about 2 months for it to make it out of the loop, to the point that I forgot about it:) But it was definitely a pleasant surprise to see our photo on the main page:)

I guess I'll be the odd man out on this one. I live an hour from Fresno, and though you did find a nice place for a shoot, I think it could have been a lot better. I have to give my two cents since it seems the majority of people like this a lot. I liked the thumbnail but as soon as I saw it bigger I knew I wouldn't be downloading it. Here's why...

The whole picture isn't that sharp, anywhere, and there is major distortion and blurring on the far left and right sides (see hill and trees). Maybe too much contrast was added as well because the sky is really blown out. Also I think the blanket on the left of the truck shouldn't have been in the shot unless it was all the way in the frame. Don't get me wrong I love the idea and that fancy old chair in the back of a grungy old truck is a cool subject to shoot, but the final product could have turned out nicer than this in my opinion.

@Daddy_Gemeni point well taken! I agree quality could be much better. Yet, this shot was taken when we were first starting out in photography with a 5year old Rebel and a standard kit lens.

You gotta love having Daddy_Gemini part of this community :-)
Yes, I agree on some points with him (the picnic blanket in particular), but that's if you wanted a perfect shot. This being as improvised as it is, I must say the composition value and the post color correction are very well done. I like that the truck is in focus, and the rest isn't. And! What a nice change to have something different on this site compared to the long dusk exposures! Well done.

Again, I agree that the blanket could have been removed for a better shot, I'm not so picky about the rest as I think the composition wins over the use of a better lens/camera.

Love the picture. Downloaded. It's my desktop. Nice to see something besides... yet... another... sunset. IFL needs to get over sunsets. I want that truck. I want that chair. I want that life. My one complaint (and I'm not a photographer) is that you seem to have added a lot of "red" to the color balance. I used GIMP to take out some of that red and make it a little more realistic(?), but I could be wrong...

I like it. It's different than most landscapes so that makes it cool. I really like the light; nice and warm.

@upinvermont: Sunsets or sunrises make any picture look that much better. It's the best ambient light you can get so you're going to see lots of shots during those times. What makes a picture during that time good or not is the main subject of the shot. This particular shot was taken during that "golden hour" when the lights's really soft and warm which makes this picture look great. If this shot would have been taken in the middle of the day, it would be terrible IMO.

@dannyandaluzphotography Yes, the picture looks soft and warm but not because it was taken during sunset or sunrise. I don't disagree with anything you've written. At some point, though, good ideas become cliche. I much prefer Vitalina's picture over all the dozens of sunsets because it's interesting and seems to tell a story that's not simply "hey look, I'm another pretty sunset..."

This is one of my favorites. Simple and as everyone else says "genuine". Quality.
