Gorai Sunset

October 22nd, 2011

Shot it at Gorai Beach, Mumbai. Had to sprint 500 meters across the beach with my camera bag and tripod to get the perfect waves and light at the back.

Nikon D700, Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR, Lee 0.6 Hard Grad. Shot at 18mm, f/22, 1/2 second, ISO 100.

Great shot of my motherland. I love that it is not a stereotypical shot of the Taj Mahal, the Ganges River or Amritsar. Great colours and lighting. "Gorai" means white in Hindi.

Wouldn't have minded if there was a version without the blur effect. Is this because of the length of the exposure? Sorry, not very camera savvy but trying to learn.

I was just logging in to say how much I love the way the water looks pouring over the rocks, and I saw that somebody had posted the opposite of my comment. Ironically, I think the blur looks fantastic!

Very cool! This is not your typical sunset shot that's for sure. Because of the rocks on the beach I think the long exposure was a good choice and normally I like short exposures of water. The cloud formation and sun rays shooting out from behind it on the top are really the icing on the cake though. Thanks Anshul I really love it!

There is a what looks like three little water drops on the lens. One is just above the horizon on the left side, one further left in the sky and the last is higher up in the sky on the left that I'm going to clone out before using it as wallpaper but they aren't that noticeable and this shot is still fantastic. =)

The blur effect is to show the movement of the waves.
