An Emerald Princess

November 12th, 2011

This feather was next to a wondow in my mothers house. It was lit by early morning sun making it glow this wonderful green and blue. I wanted to take something with me when I left that reminded me of my mom. This is what I took.

Nikon D90, AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G shot at f/1.8, sunlight to the left, minimally developed in Adobe Lightroom.

Pretty nice shot. Just wish a little more of it was in focus and it was in slightly better condition. Also, the saturation seems to be a bit high even for a peacock feather, but I guess it's possible you didn't change the coloring in post work. I still like it though and I like the dramatic black background and it works well as wallpaper so thank you.

I think the saturation is perfect and the contrast against the black background is stunning.

Too bad the feather is a bit damaged, but I suppose that has some artistic merit in itself.

In my opinion, this photo would best be named "An Emerald Prince" because peacocks(male) have the gorgeous emerald feathers. Peafowls (female) have dull grey feathers.
