Rocky Mountain Overcast

December 26th, 2011

Shot was taken during a September hike just before nearing the summit of Black Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. The weather was pleasant during the morning, but a storm quickly rolled in producing a down-pour during the trip back down the mountain. This shot was taken just as the rain started.

Canon EOS 40D, Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, Adobe Lightroom 3.

The colours, the use of thirds, and the roughness of the landscape.

It seems awfully washed out. Especially noticeable in the water, but also in the trees.
