Manarola, Cinque Terre

January 10th, 2012

This is Manarola, my favorite of all the Cinque Terre (5 lands) in Italy. I'm studying in Florence for four months. Missing the summer and ocean, I took a train and spent one day walking among the most beautiful landscapes with my girlfriend. Via del amore (path of love) and a beautiful sunset made this a magical place. One of my favorites on Earth.

Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III, Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM.

Great sunset colors on the buildings! The dramatic vignette makes them look lit separately from their context, almost studio-lit in a carefully assembled fashion. I'm surprised a student has a 1ds mk3, those are expensive cameras!

Not to fuss, but could we get this re-uploaded (or linked to a separate download location) with a level horizon? Neither the HL nor the buildings' verticals have been lined up in this shot.

Nice scenery presenting the architecture in typically mediterranean style. Lighting is full of atmosphere.

Too bad you did not work more precise on the development after shooting (postwork). There are noticable chromatic aberrations and this image deserved a carefully straightened horizon.

What i like about this picture is that, it was so romantic for me.

Grande scatto, il posto è bellissimo e il 'momento' drammatico e impressionante.

Penso che in postproduzione dovresti eliminare un poco di aberrazione cromatica e soprattutto rimettere dritto l'orizzonte.

Absolutely awesomely jaw-droppingly stunningly beautiful!

I note with interest that IFL is getting ahead of the game with a 2880x1800 resolution download, so hopefully that will provide me enough leeway for a bit of rotating / horizon straightening as mentioned above by others, but even if I can't achieve a satisfactory result I don't really care all that much as the picture is still utterly gorgeous. Next time I'm in Italy I'm going to try and seek out this place. It's magical!
