Crossing the Gap

The bridge/viaduct in the picture is the Millau Viaduct in the south of France. It is the current record holder for tallest bridge by structural height (343 meters/1125 feet). When you look at the cars you get a feeling of how big this viaduct actually is. I shot this picture on the way back home from vacation. Had to make a massive detour to see it, but was totally worth it. The picture was shot on the 6th of March, 2011. As you can tell from the picture, it was a very hazy day, but with some Adobe Lightroom 4 magic it became much better.
Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM. Shot at f/8, 1/1250th, ISO 100.

Great shot thank you for taking it! Love the colors. Framing is perfect. Definitely being added to the wallpaper rotation.

The architect is Lord Norman Foster. Google him and surprise yourself with a familiarity of his work the world over. Check out the documentary/biography "How much does your building weigh Mr. Foster?" if you want to know more about the man and his vision.
