Golden Field

August 1st, 2012

While beeing on holiday I sneaked around my grandparents' house to test a new lens. I tweaked the colors a little in Adobe Photoshop to get that golden look.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III, Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM.

Photo Settings: 16mm, f/14, 1/400 second, ISO 200.

All in all a very decent shot.

I really like the superb sharpness of the grain in front. As its the determining element in the picture it compensates the blurry background. I also like the color tweaking as it isnt over the top and too unnatural in my opinion.

What's bothering me, are the strange noisy spots (e.g. left top spot) in the background, which is also quite blurry as i already mentioned.

I know it's just not that important but could I ask where you've taken the shot?

Well, I understand it's not a "photographic relevant" question, but I really like when I could know where a certain shot is taken; especially when is a nice shot like this, in my opinion some info about the place add a "it's a real place, you could go there and find it" sensation.

@ Elaith:

The image was taken in a little village called "Gelenau" in Saxony, in the Ore Mountains in Germany. Can't give you the exact GPS coordinates, cause I don't have them :)

Shame on me you're right, there are some noisy spots in the left upper corner. Don't know how they got there. I'll pay more attention to that in the next submission.

Thanks A.I., and don't worry about the exact GPS coordinates. :) Maybe here: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/41458830 ?

(well, after have searched "Gelenau" on Maps, that was in evidence, and I tough it's worth to show, even just for the "coincidence".)

Man, da will man immer raus in die weite Welt, ohne zu merken, dass die schönsten Orte im eigenen Land liegen.
Super Bild.

Thank you for nice landscape :)

I think you worry about sharpening of your image at top left in your photo.
