Brentor

November 25th, 2013

This is the 13th century St. Michael de Rupe Church, located atop the extinct volcano that is Brent Tor in Devon, UK. I waited for 3 hours for the Sun to appear and it lasted a mere 15 seconds. I got 2 shots and it was gone.

Adobe Photoshop CS6, Nik Color Efex 4 and Adobe Lightroom.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM.

Photo Settings: 17mm, f/13, 1/5 second, ISO 100.

Beautiful photo. I just want to ask, how can it be 17mm, when the lens mark is 24-70??? It does look very 17mm thou. great shot.

You're completely right sofivest. It was shot with a 17-40mm as the EXIF states, I stupidly put 24-70mm on the Interfacelift entry form 'cos I wasn't paying attention! Oops!

Beautiful. I'm just curious why the sun appeared for such a short instant. Is this at dusk or dawn? It doesn't look overcast or anything, and I've never heard of a place getting so little sunlight as that..! Care to elaborate at all? Anyway, love all of your work, I keep finding more and they are all stunning.

Starmartyr, that was the annoying thing. I wanted cloud behind the building and got nothing, but to the right on me there was a huge bank of cloud that was covering the sun as it went down. I'd waited hours and 15 secs of direct orange light was all I got, then the cloud covered sun for the rest of the evening.
