The translucency and tonal values. Theres definitely the illusion of depth in the image, and that makes it much more dynamic. The use of a basic color palette is nice too!

This would not be considered a "basic" wallpaper. Its very busy, and usually pattern implies just that, repeating design, color, or imagery. This is not present. You have two pockets of negative space on the left side, or at least it reads that way, and it stands out. If everything was just pulled back just little bit, to create more of a composition i think this wallpaper would be more successful.
