A white heron captured against a dark background. I enhanced the contrast in PS and tweaked the color and sharpness a little. Enjoy! Tom Leonard II.

I used:
Nikon D100
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX (Great lens for the money!)
Nikon SB-80DX Speedlight
A touch of Photoshop CS after wards.
I metered the background and figured out how much I would need to stop down to get the background black. I then metered for the bird assuming the use of my speedlight. I settled on 1/180 (max sync)at f/32 with a pretty decent (almost 1/1 with a diffuser) blast from the speedlight. Hope that helps.
