I bought a new camera over the weekend (upgraded from a 350D to a 40D) and took it out for a test drive today. The sunset was muted due to the cloud cover, but I still got some amazing colours out of the camera (this image has very little post processing). Unfortauntely it was a bit windy so there's some motion blur in the foreground, but I'm still pretty happy with it. Taken at Ambury Park, Auckland.

This is the Milford Highway in New Zealand on a cold morning. It was taken while travelling out of Fiordland. After many days of perfect whether, when we finished exploring the natural attractions, the biggest snow storm in 50 years hit the southern island. This was the day before, and the first weather we had that was not clear blue skies. We drove into this area with a long straight road in the middle of a flat glacial valley, and I had to stop immediately. The lighting, the mist, the frost, everything worked out for a really nice photo.

I went back to Otuataua Stonefields, a regional park just a 15 minute drive from my house. The sunset was pretty good and I got a few shots (uploaded to my website). This one didn't quite make the cut but I thought it might make a nice wallpaper.

Lake Wakatipu is an inland lake on the South Island of New Zealand. It is famous for its scenic beauty, so it surely doesn't hurt getting out of your car and taking a quick photo to remember the beauty of this unique scenery.

Morning light strikes Mount Sefton, part of the Mount Cook National Park in New Zealand. Mount Sefton is one of the lesser known peaks in the area, but still rises to over 10,000 feet.
