I created this composition in Photoshop CS5. I'm out of mountain photographs, so I'll have to take some new ones when I move to Switzerland in August. Swiss Alps night sky HDR, here I come!

Strawberry Mountains
By adairtd
April 19th, 2010
The Strawberry Mountain Wilderness is located east of John Day, Oregon, in the Malheur National Forest. The area includes approximately 68,700 acres. The entire northern section of the mountain was burned in a large fire in 2002, which is why the trees halfway up the mountain look dead and bare. I was driving through here in the beginning of April, and stopped to take a few photos along the way.

Tunnel View
November 2nd, 2011
Yosemite National Park. After nearly an hour of winding, boring forest roads, nearly all of my passengers felt the pangs of motion sickness. We then entered a concrete tunnel with a point of light in the distance. Once we emerged from the tunnel, this majestic view greeted us. I was swept off my feet. So worth it.
I had photographed this view in the morning, but it wasn't until the late afternoon, on our way out, that the low sun drew swathes of warm light across the valley. This photo was the result of waiting for the light.

Storm Break
October 7th, 2010
Near Mt. Charleston, just outside Las Vegas, NV. The storm was following my Jeep out of the mountain. For a brief moment, the Sun broke through the dense cloud cover and cast a light on this mountain to my side. Luckily I pulled over and snapped the shot before the storm reclaimed the land.

Creation Knows No Boundaries

This shot was taken on Iceland, this summer in Landmannalaugar. As we drove our Jeep further and further in to the mainland.... something beautiful uncovered. Looking at this site made me realize man doesn't control as much as they like to think. Creation is truly beautiful!
