Great sunset in the city of Montreux, Switzerland. Not an HDR, but I had to wait until the intensity of the sunlight was similar to the light of the castle.
Canon EOS 550D, Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.
Taken on my recent trip to the South Island, New Zealand. This is the Blue Lake in St Bathans (named for its distinctive blue colour caused by the minerals in the water). It was man-made by miners digging away at a 120m hill until all that was left was a 68m deep pit. When the mining stopped, the hole filled with water forming the lake. This is a single exposure, taken using a 2-stop graduated ND filter. Very little post-processing here, this was exactly how it appeared that morning.
This image was captured about an hour before sunset on a recent backpacking trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon via Soap Creek. Located about 15 miles from Glen Canyon dam in northern Arizona, this area is well upriver from the popular main corridor. The solitude and sheer grandeur is incredible.
Taken on a cold winter day just west of Salt Lake City, Utah. Just west of Stansbury Island on the Great Salt Lake are evaporation ponds used to harvest salt and brine shrimp. During the winter these ponds are often full of water because the extra precipitation. The calm reflection and the salt buildup on the rocks in the foreground mixed with the clouds helps create a seamless bridge between sky and ground.
