The only thing I've to say is: CONGRATULATIONS!!! This is one of the most beautiful photo (in this category) I ever seen in all my life. Look at the Focus on the main plant, and the blur behind it. Look the careful that the photographer had to show with an amazing sharpness the water drops. And, finally, pay attention on the luminosity of the photo, mostly on the water drops!
Fantastic, fantastic, congratulations.

My only question is why did you boost the ISO to 800 to get 1/1000 of a second shutter speed when you could have put the ISO at 200 or 400 and got less noise and the same sharpness with a picture taken at 1/250 or 1/500?

Great pic, crisp and fresh! :)
Paul.CK is right though, it's a bit about the grain because of the high ISO.
But don't let that get you down, it's a great pic!

Congrats on your first photo! I haven't got any of my photos accepted yet, but look here at what I have to compete with. Great job.

This is, indeed, a very nice photo. I don't agree with the comments about the grain being distracting, though. I think we all tend to get caught up in the hyper-realistic, "sharp as a tack" mentality that digital photography leans to. I think that excessive grain can sometimes add to an image as I think it does in this case. I think the excess grain and the de-saturated appearance really add a gritty feeling to this image. I like it just the way it is. If this was an over saturated image then I would go along with the feeling that the grain was a bit much but, in my opinion, I think this is quite nice. I look forward to seeing more from you in the future.

i love the picture, just why would you ruin such a great picture by forgetting to turn down your iso to 200 or even 100? If you had less grain, it would be 100000 times better!

Well, the image is nonetheless still great and its not the luminance noise that bothers me as much as the color noise, which is rather easy to remove non-destructively.

i used Windows Live Photo Galery to sharpen the image then after that is the application called Neat Image designed to reduce visible noise
in digital photographic images. The result is unbelievable, very clear and very sharp. it looks so real on my desktop. Thanks to you Finn.

The grain in the photo gave a good looking 4 it I think. I don't know why people complain so much about noises. Noises not ever means a problematic photo. No offenses ok? Just my opinion.

i personal think that the canon 450 is high in noise, compared to my canon 5D, noise is a natural thing in small censors. thanks for the image, sometimes may be worth having a tripod around?
anyway am sure u may got more interesting photos of Azores, is a wonderful ireland full of wildness and stunning landscape i would love to visit it myself! just cant afford it!

Thank you all for the comments.

I am just starting to learning to take photos professional and this was some of my first attempts. This was also the first time I used my new camera. So the high ISO was due to inexperiance on my part.

Im happy you all liked it and I probaly upload more pictures when they ready.

The noise is good, imo. It lends some nice texture while most of these types of photos end up seeming flat & boring.

I think the grain fits this Picture perfectly. I dont like plants and such on my desktop but this here to stay. it has that nice foggy feel that you dont have to think about it, its just there..

Nice work.

Stunning Photo.
