Tree Snake on Branch
By GG23
January 30th, 2007
At the Vancouver Aquarium, this tree snake was just sitting perfectly coiled on his branch enjoying the view. Not sure exactly what species of snake this is, if anybody wants to enlighten us.

Thanks for the comments guys! I took this picture a long time ago and so I forget what the sign said about species, but Zachary's mention of emerald tree boa definitely rings a bell. I'm thinking that's what it is.
No colour enhancement except for brightness increase.
And as for the blur, well I didn't have a tripod that day and was somewhat forced to use a large aperture. I wasn't too fond of the shallow depth of field either but it still works.....

Great image and I think the blur works really well. (I even just registered so I could give the 'Too blurry' comment a negative rating).

it is 100% absolutely Corallus Caninus, The Emerald Tree Boa. Green Tree Pythons (M. Viridis) don't have that elongated monstrous snout/head, and the banding on Emmies (classic emmies) is thin and wide like that.
Nice shot.

Nice! I don't think it's too blurry - it's quite well focused, in fact. You picked the eyes out nicely.

Skytaker, did that comment have anything to do with anything??? Of course its a green snake, but I do agree with the majority of people, and say it is indeed an Emerald Tree Boa. The white stripes on the Boa tend to be bigger and more of a line, while the Green Tree Python has smaller and more round spots.

The pic is perfect.. to the comment about it being blurry its called depth of field. Its better not to write things that make you sound really stupid

Was it color enhanced at all?
