Paris Scrap Art

August 12th, 2008

The Skyline of Paris with a scrapbook paper texture to it. I designed this for a website, and thought it would make a pretty good desktop as well.

for right-handed desktops, open space is better placed at the viewer's left than at the right. sometimes that can be arranged by reversing the image; but here that would transport us to SIRAP.

I agree with remacian but as a image itself (not a wallpaper) it's really cool although the red pinstripe reminds me a little of communism ;)

Thanks for the comments! =) I hadn't thought about desktops on the left, I'm a mac user for one (icons on the right), and also that's how I had the web site designed. Here's a right anchored version you can use if you like:

Also, here's the website I made that uses this design =)

I don't think you should change a thing. It's great just as it is. The detail, richness of color, and blending of patterns is a visual feast. It's not too busy that file icons will get lost and it certainly isn't plain.

I love the creativity of the shot. It's a great change from the more traditional photographic images. Related to where to place subjects and generally how to create wallpaper, I've tried to assemble some of my own personal guidelines that might interest others: http://blogs.msdn.com/mswanson/pages/HowIMakeMyWallpaperImages.aspx

really like the picture, my only idea and it's only my opinion would be to make the eiffel tower itself the A in Paris since it's blocking it slightly anyway.

Love this wallpaper, very vintage and I love the colors.

And I agree with deannnnn, if you ever get inspired, please do one for New York. I think it would rock!

I would have to agree with Adam Wittenberg that the Eiffel Tower in front of the A in Paris is rather redundant. All in all, the idea and execution are just beautiful. I could see you doing a whole series of these for some large corporate sponsor (hint, hint to Microsoft) for all the great cities around the world.

BTW, I accidentally typed in
www.gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooogle.com (57 o's) and it took me to a porn site! What are the odds of that? (That's a joke of course. I bet you tried it anyway. :o)

Great work! I love the Concorde tribute! I miss that plane...
I also agree about the Eiffel Tower = A idea, but I love the way it is now!

Great style, great image but as some one said before, it's not the best choice for right-handed desktops. In my case I have my taskbar on the very left side and that overlaps the 'P'. Woul like to use your wallpaper but that doesn't appear to look so nice. If you have some more time on your hands you can make up a version for right-handed desktops...;)
Beside all that you did an amazing job!

Love it! But would really prefer it without the "Paris" text. :-(

This is GORGEOUS!
I think you should do more cities like this (Athens, Rome, New York... stuff like that).

Keep up the good work!
