I love the photos on IFL with unity to their color schemes. Having a dull black laptop, my preferred use of backgrounds is to keep the icon clutter to 0 and diversity the color palette with a lineup of different-colored, but each monochromatic, wallpapers. This one is my favorite Purple/Pink yet.

Beautiful. The only way to improve this photo would be to Photoshop out the house and street lights for a clean landscape without distractions. The most distracting one is bottom-most one that sits by itself. In the good old days, these lights would have been manually retouched out, so Photoshopping them is not some new-fangled, destroyer of photographic purity. In the end, it's an artistic call. Either way, it's a great shot.

To bdwilcox: Usually, I agree with you about the appeal of nature, but once in a while there comes along a scenario that is so rare and beautiful that a dash of humanity helps reassure the viewer that the world in question actually IS Earth and that people do get to experience this gorgeous scenery in person. With "Private Dock: Sunset", the sky isn't colored as unusually as this shot, and so the omission of human influence would be more desirable to me.
