High Alpine Landscape
By Aletheios
August 29th, 2008
It was an amazing day in the Alps at about 2300m altitude. I could take some nice shots with my Sigma 10-20mm lens. This is an HDR made from only one RAW-file. I tried to get back the details of the mountains using different sharpening-methods in Photoshop. Hope you'll like it. Regards from Germany!

First of all, let me say this is a great picture. However, I can't but help to say it might have been improved if you used the water as the foreground because the rock foreground you have now is kinda boring. I'd say just walk up to the water and start snapping there.

Excellent photo, excellent place. No offenses, but you'd make a better work on Photoshop, it's good, but would be better... Resuming, the photo is outstanding. congratulations, just would finish it by other way on the PC.

ha nice, wallpaper.
From a photographic view... lot of things going on as far as i can see, can't really see a foreground interest or is a bit too much confusion? maybe if u used the "river" running would make nice interesting shot, anyway am sure there would be lot of interesting foregrounds there, still a nice shot, not sure about other methods photoshop is good enough to me!

The landscape seems impeccable, and the clarity of your shot is perfect - in other words, your camera and shooting technique are great. As Joel said, the only missing element of the shot is unity, or focus. The lake seems like a great centerpiece to an Alps shot, or perhaps a particular mountain, but as it currently stands it's focusless. Again, I love everything else about it.

I think it looks pretty good actually. Closer to the a lake would've been better, as I agree with Joel about the foreground clutter. Colour and sharpness look fine though.

Thank you all for your feedback! I really appreciate it.
Unfortunatelay I couldn't use the lake as a real foreground because there was no way of getting there. The terrain was quite difficult and partly extremely precipitous (you can't see this on the photo). But next time I'll try. ;) I hope you'll like the picture anyway.

great picture, congratulations... anyway, I think I recognize the place, isn't it the Lago Cignana, close to Valturnanche and Cervinia in Val d'Aosta (Italy)?? I've been there a lot of time to say that it really looks like that place...

I've been here since around September 3rd and finally joined today. I just gotta ask: why all the negative comments about someone else's artwork? This is a great shot. I love everything about it, and I wouldn't change it one bit. If Aletheios hadn't replied, I would've said that perhaps the lake wasn't his focus.
Anyway, I love this shot and I look forward to the times when it comes around in my Wallpaper Master rotation.
