Kimmeridge Pearls
By Joel Antunes
September 12th, 2008
this image was taken a few weeks ago when i visited Kimmeridge, Dorset. I was amazed by the number of photographers in the area after the same images I was after. I wondered why they left after the sunset. I was around 30 to 40 minutes later and i could still get a wonderful color shot! I used a Lee Filter ND to balance the light.

This just goes to show that when you follow the "rules" (gotta get your pictures in during the golden hour, for instance) you miss out on a lot of really fun photography like this. One of my favorite photos was a 30+ second exposure off a pier during the rain. All the other photographers had long packed up and left, but I got some incredible color from all the various atmosphere interacting.
Keep up the good work, Joel.

GT, it's because the probably don't agree with your comments. I don't think its a conspiracy. For example, I've never heard anyone describe a photography as "obscure" and I don't really think it gives any feedback. So I might downvote you. I didn't, but that's what's happening.
Also, great photograph,Joel, like all your others.

One of the more beautiful photos around here. I like how there is the open space on the left side of the photo for my desktop items while having such nice details on the right.

Dear GT: There is no such thing as "a photography". There is a photograph. Or there is photography - the art/act of taking photographs. I'm sorry but it does make me cringe every time you write "a photography". Sorry if this is pedantic BUT as this is a site about photography and photographs I think it's a fair comment. And at least I didn't go into nouns and verbs. :-)
Love this photograph Joel; this and many of your other photos transport me away from my Mac. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry, I just noticed that AdamP and Paul.CK are also describing photos as "a photography" in the posts above. I just wonder WHY????

Noupette, I never used the term "a photography". I only used it in proper verb form as I was describing the act of taking pictures like this one, and breaking the conventional "rules" of photography (note, used as a broad subject of study here) as fun. I don't feel the need to give general critiques of Joel's work, because though I don't always agree with his choices, he has proven to have a great eye for composition, color and general artistry. If there is something specific about one of his images that I feel could have been done better or would be better done differently, I will voice my opinion, and if he sees value in what I say, great, but if not, then it's of no further concern to me. My goal with my comments is to either offer my experience as a tool for others (as in the case of his piece "Colorful Place V. Color"), or to (as in this case) share a story of a similar experience, as people with similar interests are apt to do. Builds camaraderie and all that.

Mostly because I am retarded and meant to write "photograph." It just I type the word "photography" more so my finger automatically goes to the "y" inadvertently.

It's a place to post our comments and opinions not a GRAMATICAL place. If u wanna correct people's grammar, it's not the right place to do it.

GT: I did write a comment about Joel's photography, but the way, not just the grammar!
I'm here to learn all I can about everything I can and have a right to my comments. You sometimes make quite crucial ones that I don't agree with at all - but I haven't criticised you for it as you have a right to say what you like. :-)
I don't care if people can't spell or make typos... But "a photography" on a photography-based site is slightly annoying, as I said, when it occurs consistently. I also think it's important for people who don't speak English as their first language to learn what is correct and what is not.
To zexuxuzao - please read my post again, more slowly. What I actually said it that it is not correct to say "a photography" about one photograph. I did NOT say that it is not correct to refer to photos (in the plural) as "photography". Again, sorry if this is pedantic. I would rather not have followed this up. But I was misquoted and felt justified in pointing that out.
