Riding the Rocks

L'houmeau, is a small port near La Rochelle, very pretty place, very nice landscape. I visited this place twice to decide where to shoot. I noticed that there was some limestone and i headed down to have a look but i was not convinced. I then went back to this location during the morning to hunt for snails, they are nice to eat (portuguese thing!). When I finished my hunt I walked towards the bay where the limestone was and I noticed that the tide was quite low. From my calculations, the sunset would be just perfect to shoot. I rushed back to my holiday house in Grange, near Niort, grabbed my equipment and headed back. I was so pleased with this image. The Sun looks amazing and there was no wind. It was so relaxing looking at the Sun just by the horizon. This image made my holiday! 2 second exposure, F/22 at 16mm, B+W polarizer, Lee Filter ND .9.

I love the detail, color, and the strong foreground element, I just wish there was slightly more sky to balance the scene out a little more. Stepping back 8-12 inches and composing with a little more of the clouds in there (to get a little more of the tops) would have helped this out, I think. It seems slightly bottom heavy to me. Beautiful as is, though.

I really like this shot. The rushing water does it for me, contrasting with the still rocks on the left. Beautiful work Joel!

I downloaded this the other day and I wasn't really quite sure I'd like it. After looking at it for a day, though, I'm sure that this one'll be on my desktop for a while. Absolutely love the water and the rocks in the foreground, and the sunset beaming through the clouds gives the whole picture an air of mystery. Excellent work!

WHAT YOU NEEDED TO DO IS TO USE FILL IN FLASH TO BRING OUT THE BEAUTY OF THE ROCK'S TEXTURE OUT...IT'S BRILLIANCE AND SHARP DETAILS...THEN...THE WHOLE PICTURE WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL. THANK YOU FOR A GOOD SHOT
