Divining Rod

October 24th, 2008

Came across this rock quarry on one of my random direction explorations. The conditions were perfect. I got some great shots there. Enjoy. More at my site.

It looks as if the divining rod has done its work by locating a source of water. It now rests on the rock, having completed its task. Dare I step into the waters and retrieve it? (Flowery I know.) Seriously, very peaceful and inviting. Looking at a scene like this quiets the mind because it says all that needs to be said. You need add nothing to make it more complete.

I have relatives that have a horse farm just west Birds Hill, north of Winnipeg. I sent them a scaled down copy of this image to see if it was the outflow of the Winnipeg Floodway back into the Red River. (The Floodway is a man made river bypass around Winnipeg to prevent spring floods. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winnipeg_Floodway )

They said it was but that it was an old picture because the Floodway was significantly enlarged more than a year ago.

Thank you all very much for the comments. Vettecoupe, you are close, this is in Manitoba but this is not part of the floodway. This was taken about 60km south of Winnipeg.
