Is IFL lowering its standards?
Please keep on making wallpapers, and the best of luck, but I don't like this at all.

Jesus. Why do so many people on this site have sticks shoved up their butts?? I'm a professional photographer and I think this wallpaper is neat. Not all wallpapers have to be boring city/landscapes you know...

@ Barton: If IFL would be lowering it's standards, then they could have submitted my two wallpapers too. The quality isn't very good, but a sweep from the editor could do fine and the foto's where cool. I wished I had allready one wallpaper online, but it is a shame you don't here anything from the editor if it is not posted on IFL. Ok, you can say about this wallpaper what you want, but I don't like it and I feel a little terrible then my wallpapers wheren't posted and this simple looking thing does. I wouldn't call it a classic either; cause if somebody would say that you get the intention that it is more an good copy of something else. Hopefully my next submission does get posted and hopefully they leave this stuff offline.

Really people? Stop with the incessant complaining about everything you don't like. This is a good concept, and well executed. It's not my personal taste for a wallpaper, but I know many people who would love it. I have submitted stuff I personally feel should be posted before this, but it doesn't mean I'm gonna rag on it or complain in public about not being picked. Buck up, get in line, and if you don't like the style but it's well done, move on.

Seriously, it's every other wallpaper we have to remind someone of this. Today "AdamP" is the culprit. No offense intended Adam (and I mean that genuinely), but you'll note this is the "Your Comments" section. If you disagree, rate those comments accordingly.

And ADAMP, no offenses, but the people here aren't complaining about the wallpaper. It's a free space where people can like or dislike everything... and post their comments here, without any offenses, about people's works.

I think it's got a nice whimsical quality to it, but please -- we get more people here complaining about complainers than actual complaints. Seriously, stop whining about whining, folks! Criticism builds character and better work. If we fellate every single submission, there's no reason to improve. Sorry, but not everything is great. I like reading grievances anyway. (P.S. Santorican, you and your generation need to learn the definition of the term "tool". It doesn't mean what you think it means. I sense irony.)

Personally, I don't like this. I mean, it's just something simple. There are certainly other photos that would probably deserve to be posted before this one. Don't get me wrong, for those of who like, go hard.

I don't dare speak for anyone else but when I come to IFL I'm looking for stuff that shows skill and originality. Work that its creator has put time and energy into. One offs, if you like, that make me think 'Wow, I wish I had done that, or could do that'. Sorry, but many people (including myself) could put something together like this in very little time using any appropriate computer program and that, for me, is why this should not be here. You might like it, it might be cute. (I don't personally like it). But it's nothing exceptional. I don't mean to dissuade its creator, though. But for me it doesn't make the grade.

By the way, at the risk of sounding pedantic, I second brizkit in what he says about Santorican. But Santorican could also do with learning that when people don't agree with his opinion he should keep his ego under control, agree to disagree, and avoid being calling people stupid (nonsensical) names. Especially on a site like this that encourages constructive criticism, not the all too common 'dude you suck/you rule' style comments that contribute nothing.

@BetWinston
who says that comments have to be always praising the creation? Why do people have to mention only good things about stuff. Comments are OPINIONS and they are not all the same.

now back to the topic (wallpaper)
the wallpaper is pretty simplistic, but the idea is great. the author should have put more work into it, for example the paper planes. they both look the same, they consist of a couple lines and thats it. The planes should look different (different angles of view).
Conclusion: first impression is great, but not very detailed, wich kinda ruins the idea a little.

With all due respect to the IFL staff, I think the rating criteria are misguided. I do not rate as a general rule. The reason is this: I may disagree with someone's analysis or opinion, but at the same time respect it. I may consider his or her comment to be arrived at honestly and earnestly. Giving the comment a "disagree" mark does not truly convey my sentiment. It seems more like a demerit or implied criticism. I would rather rate a comment as meritorious or not meritorious. Thanks guys.

Wow, I had no idea this had even been posted. I submitted it and began working on it again; I removed the outlines on the planes and instead give them pretty heavy drop shadows. I'm trying to find a good paper texture to put under them as well. Maybe it isn't a professional photo, but I keep it as my wallpaper as well just because it's the kind of simple thing I like.

I don't think people complain about not admiring this wallpaper in particular but they wonder (myself one) why their wallpaper was turned down (mine being a gorgeous sunset with the sun hiding behind a beautiful tree behind the seashore at sunset taken with a professional camera; the canon 40D) yet this is approved but theirs is not. It makes no sense and shows no consistency for what the people on this website are willing to approve. Everyone that has seen my photography without exception is amazed at the beauty of my pictures and asks me for a copy yet one of my best is turned down.

I really appreciate this wallpaper. I am in the midst of exams at a university and sometimes it is nice to be able to view something simple and relaxing when I get on my lappy or when I get home and connect my HD screen.
