Very simple, but very nice as a wallpaper. Not visually distracting. Really like that shade of red/purple.

hmmm...its interesting that IFL would let this on. I guess it does make a nice wallpaper, but it is like a kid playing with his camera on the first day he gets it; which I think is what you said you were doing. Anyways, congrats man...keep working on these. Merry Christmas!

If its a kid playing around its a lucky kid. All lines going out from lower left as well as the balance of the colors and the light makes this either a lucky or very good shot.

deuceswild09 always has something negative to say. It doesn't matter what it is. He can even make a positive response sound negative in some way. Or sometimes he'll try to make a negative response sound positive. But maybe he'll submit something to IFL that gets accepted and show us what makes him such a good judge. Anyway, I, for one, see a very professional-quality shot. As Ras said, it has to do with the lines and the balance of colors. I can clearly see why IFL accepted this piece. Paul, I look forward to seeing more of your work!

I agree with what's been said, it's a wonderful composition and I love the color, but the bokeh is a bit too strong. Very calming.

Its a matter of personal taste unfortunately I disagree with most of the comments I feel this is bland and doesn't really speak to me. However I`m not discounting your talents they are clearly obvious and I wouldn't be at all surprised your next submission I like more !

Very simple, subtle and calm & balanced coloring. Just the way I like my wallpapers :) I don't like the wallpaper to distract me.

ukk: Yeah. I always find theres a big difference between what images i find 'artsy'/meaningfully-appealing and the images that makes good wallpapers for exactly that reason: wallpapers must not distract. I think a lot of the images on Interfacelift are unsuitable for wallpapers but appealing in many other ways.

It's been a while and after looking dozens and dozens of pictures I finally found my new wallpaper, thanks! :-)
I own this very same camera and lens, but I prefer my 50mm for the bokeh action, I'm quite surprised how you managed to take this picture with the kit lens! I like it because the quasi-abstract bokeh is perfect as a desktop wallpaper because it has this smooth colour and non-distracting elements, and the central focus is very neat. :-)
