Well taken as always, but man - that house is so filthy, I don't think I want it on my desktop. :-)

Fantastic job. The details are stunning (i.e the cracks on the walls and snow inside the house)! I have a feeling it is warmer outside than inside the house. Someone please get me some hot coo-coo. :P

Incredible job! One site you might want to check out is www.abandonedbutnotforgotten.com Has pics of old buildings by state, its User Submitted like IL is, and if you like old abaondoned stuff, you could literally spend a couple hours on the site. ( I did lol )

There's also 360icon who specializes on this particular subject as well. I really like this photo though.

The interior is creepy and a bit spooky--very evocative. I wouldn't want to climb those stairs by myself. The exterior scene through the window, however, is a bright normal, unremarkable winter's day. You would hope that the two would afford some interesting contrast; unfortunately I don't think they do. What results is two separate unrelated moods. A sheer hung from the window would keep the integrity of the interior while allowing the muted suggestion of a cold exterior world. In other words, I would want to maintain the integrity of the interior and not dilute it.

It's a shame these type of house weren't maintained. This is nice photo to capture what's left of this, probably beautiful in it's day, house.

Humm, amazing similar to the work to the work we have been doing for the past 2 years, HDR stills and panos of old abandoned places. Where did you get your inspiration from?

Thank you everyone!

stubulman, I can see your point but to me I wouldn't change a thing :D

360icon.com, I started finding old places in this past summer. No inspiration from anyone actually. Just me, and my camera. I actually have never heard of 360icon before your WP here on IFL a month ago. Getting out and finding old places, or anything worth shooting has been my for over a year now. There is a lot of history around where I live and hope to go further West this summer.

Oh noes not the spooky houses again!

No no, only joking. :P You've really captured whats important and the good camera really helps. I wouldn't have it as my Desktop personally, but the shot is excellent. 9/10

360, your stuff is great, but the implication that anyone who photographs a decrepit structure is copying you is a little ridiculous and egotistical. Everything's done under the sun somewhere and in some way. TheReal7, this is nice work. Very reminiscent of a classic Resident Evil game (minus the daylight)!

Thanks "Real7" for being so understanding. I'm envious that you have such good subject matter with which to work. Keep 'em coming. It obvious you enjoy your work.

Wow, even though I am similar to LynxMukka in that this isn't something I normally add to my wallpaper collection, I still really like looking at this shot. It's so beautiful and so well done.

I've tried to post a comment twice. First time it was blank, next it didn't appear at all! So, here goes again! I have been fascinated by old, abandoned buildings for many years. I love this shot. I don't agree with Stubulman. I like the window the way it is with remains of something there to remind us that once it would have been dressed but those days have long gone. A drape would have been false and given a wrong impression. I like the winter view outside, too. For me it shows that although the house is decaying, life goes on. Soon the house won't exist, but the seasons will still change and nature is waiting to reclaim the land. I also like the scrap of newspaper on the bottom step reminding us of time passing in 'the real world' outside this ruin. Maybe it was discarded by the person who left the polystyrene cup. Maybe it was a tramp. That's why I love these old dilapidated buildings - there is so much to imagine. I would love to have a peek upstairs while it's still light. Or maybe even just as the sun is going down just for the thrill.

I love this photo! The quality and lighting is simply amazing! But I must say the wall cracks or patterns..whatever @: ) with the monotonous cream is distracting. It's eye candy, but I'm sorry to say I can't keep it on my desktop.
