Cool picture. I think you made a good choice with the rings, keeping them sorta whispy. Putting too much detail in them I think would have made the picture too busy.

I agree with you whole-heartedly, the original was much better! All kidding aside, this is fantastic. Pictures of deep space do indeed carry the mind away spurring the imagination and tugging at our sense of wonder. Good job. PS: It takes me six hours simply to draw a straight line in PS.

Once more, "thumbs down" means "I disagree," not "You're evil and I hate you." Anyways, I know I already left a comment, but I wanted to tell you Phil that while I only have a 1280x800 screen, I took a moment to look at the largest resolution and zoom into everything and: WOW. I mean yes, as you even said there's a noticeable difference in quality between the left planet and all the rest, but it's still pretty good. And everything else is simply incredible. Those of us with small screens just can't give justice to this thing because all the detail you worked in is lost on the smaller resolutions. A shame, but really: this is impressive. And six hours, that's all? Now I'm a total foreigner to Photoshop, but that still seems like a rather short time for such a detailed piece. Some serious talent, man.

The following is an excerpt for a previous post of mine: I rarely if ever rate a comment. I think the "agree/disagree" system presents one with a false or limited choice. I would rather see a rating choice such "merit/no merit." Consequently you are at liberty to disagree with someone but indicate that their opinion is well taken.

SumYungGuy took the post out of my keyboard! This is astronomically inaccurate, but it's impressive enough to be left alone. Really nice work here. That said, I think there are "real" space shots that would be just as breathtaking on IFL. (Run a Google search for Hubble photos to see what I mean.)

Very nicely done. Although you say the planet on the left didn't come out as nicely as you would have hoped...I am a fan of darker wallpapers and all my icons are on the left so more detail would just be covered up by my icons. This is perfect for me and I have put it on my desktop! Thanks!
