Wallpaper Details: Loose Leaf
Loose Leaf
March 5th, 2009
Tip to anyone wanting to get this result in a leaf: flatbed scanning won't work because it's reflective. To get all those details you need light to shine through the leaf. Google "DIY light boxes" for photography, that's what I used.

Awesome wallpaper, it's so detailed. Definitely a great addition to IFL!
There's one thing I dislike about this wallpaper, though, and that's the watermark.
Overall, it still is a great addition to IFL.
Keep up the good work!

I love the wallpaper and the subsequent detail, but I thought that IFL rejected or removed wallpapers with watermarks. I guess not.

@Skittles,
We don't explicitly reject images with watermarks on them, but we are less likely to post them. The reasons being that A.) our visitors generally feel it distracts from the beauty of the image, and B.) it limits our ability to crop the originals to the various aspect ratios we offer.
Also, we make no guarantee that a watermark will appear on every crop of the image.
The point is largely moot as only a very tiny fraction of submissions contain a watermark, and of those that do, very few meet the other subjective and objective criteria for selection.

This is nice! Very original. I'm sure if your into plants this would be the perfect wallpaper! I'm not... But I'll recommend it to one of my friends. Thanks!

This photograph is stunningly beautiful, however the watermark seriously spoils it. My desire for an empty desktop prevents me from using this as my wallpaper.

Its a really nice picture indeed. But I must say that the watermark kind of ruins it for me. Its an unnecessary distraction from a very good photo.

Would be a wonderful celebration of nature's beauty and intricacy if not for the horrible watermark which, for me, defeats the object of sharing on IFL and also distracts us from the subject.

What a coincidence! I was doing something really similar to this just a week ago! You executed it much better than me! Amazing!

Wow, people really like to cry about the watermark. Hey look, I know it's not ideal, I do try to make it small and non-intrusive (for Windows users, the task bar covers it anyway), but as an artist it's the only way to build exposure to one's art. I feel it's a fair trade, given all the work that I put into sharing these results completely free to everyone. If such a tiny credit "completely ruins" it for you, that's nice, and thank you for taking the time to shout it from your box. Feel free to not download it, and I guess nobody can stop you from erasing it anyway. In any case, genuine thanks to those who provide real support and understand the decision (you guys are probably artists, too). I'm sure it took all your inner strength to put up with the "horrible" little tag in the bottom corner. :) Cheers!
