This would be a real nice shot if it wasn't for the cranes to the right hand side spoiling the feel, other than that good work :)

I don't know drh, I think that the cranes add to the picture to some degree, you have old London clearly with St. Paul's, but in the same shot we have the Millennium Bridge, a clear contrast between two era's. Add to that the skyline includes modern buildings as well. So we have a paradox, where really all things that were old (like St Paul's) were once grand new building projects.

I like it a lot, curious as to how the people in the left were in the shot for some of the exposure but obviously not there for all of it. Cross layering? Or is this proof that ghosts really do exist?

Great except the purple overall color. If you named this Purple haze I'd take it better though. :)

Will (and Jeff), the ghostly figure on the left appears that way because this was taken at a long exposure. The person was standing there for part of the shot, then moved. Often you won't be able to tell where they went because they move quick enough that the sensor (or film) doesn't have them in one spot long enough to change the light pattern. My sister, brother-in-law and I spent an hour or so one Christmas playing with this technique, making it appear that our ghosts were punching through each other and being generally unsuccessfully violent.


As for the shot, it's nice, but I think less sky and more foreground would do this picture some good. There are very few times when having the distant subject of a photo dead center are visually appealing. In my opinion anyway. You've got a great leading element with the bridge. I just wish it lead to something other than the absolute center of the photo. I don't know the geography here, but maybe standing farther back, tilting down and using a longer zoom would help to give it a bit more balance.
