Dramatic angle--very unique.

Trippy lighting and a lack of crisp detail detract from this too much for me. I do appreciate the change in subject matter and "dramatic angle". :)

Not bad. Looks different from other pictures. I think it would have been better if you took it from a wide angel, or were further away from it. I'm not sure what your intentions were and what you wanted to show people, but I don't think there is a picture out there that's wrong or bad. Good job, and keep submitting!

I think the angle is what keeps this photograph interesting. If this were shot at regular angle, this just wouldn't be captivating my attention. I catch myself looking more at the beautiful blue hues of the sky more than I am with the tree. I do think the tree is interesting in contrast to the other surrounding trees because it's the only one with out full branches. It's branches are almost "bug like" to me. Not a bad attempt, definitely wallpaper material but not quite captivating enough for me personally. I would be interested to see more dynamic angles like this with other subjects from you.

I've tried to find something i would like in this picture, but couldn't find a thing. Firstly, there's a reason why compacts start at €100 and SLRs at €800. The fuzziness and the absolute lack of detail caused by the limitation of a 2 year old compact from a B-class manufacturer is a bad start. The angle? I'm a big fan of skewed angles, but the precondition is that it must go with the perspective. E.g. standing UNDER tall trees or buildings. Looking at an object flat-on at right angle and then just turning the camera 45 degrees is just lame and can't work. Too bad though, the lighting and the sky was good, but the opportunity missed.

Hey, when did we get the new "Insightful/Unnecessary" system? I go out of town for a few days, and the whole system turns on its head. :)

If it wasn't for the angle that prevents my eyes/brain from being relaxed when looking at the picture I would use it as background. I love detailed tree shots. This just makes my brain work when I want to chill and enjoy.

When I looked at the thumbnail I thought...well this could me nice. But I got very disappointed when i looked at the picture full-screen. The lack of detail en the poor composition just make me wanna click this picture away and never look at it again. Austria is such a beautiful country with such great sceneries, but this doesn't do any right to Austria.

Im not a professional photographer... But I like this photo. It’s probably not the best image, but i still like it. Something different and I will definitely get this!

I'm all for different, but the tree is very unappealing and the sky looks weird. Doesn't work for me.

An interesting attempt, but it's entirely too contrasted and ridiculously sharp. It's hard for me to look at it for an extended period.

Alright. Having garnered above, as of this posting, a negative 4 rating , I will now comment. I don't particularly care for this submission for many of the reasons cited above. The angle is too severe, the subject matter is unappealing and it looks like there is some disease like crud infesting the trees. I prefer not to be so negative, but that's how I feel.

The setting completely aside (I actually quite like it), this photo is awful for me. The dramatic angle is exacerbated by the snag tree in the foreground which my brain is constantly trying to use as a directional cue. The end result of this is that I keep cocking my head to the right trying to get the photo to align with the way my brain feels it should. This is made worse by the fact that the photo has been over sharpened, which causes an image that was already difficult on my brain to be even more flagrantly eye straining. It’s a beautiful place, definitely go back and take more photos, but not like this.

Several visitors wrote in requesting that return characters be honored in the comments.

That change has been made and works with older comments as well. Hope that helps make things more readable.
