I headed up for the weekend and was very keep on getting one good shot but i got many, this picture was taken at around 5:38am with a beautiful pick colors with a fantastic mirrow view of the mountains. Wow. The water is so smooth that it seems like glass! It's almost unreal, like something made in Vue. But it's even better to know that it is a real place. Well done.

go easy on that selfpraise joel. even if the image was 'stuning', the author referring to it as such makes it a little less so. you don't refer yourself as an brilliant photographer, do you?
anyway. your images are some of the best on this site. this one, while really nice, isn't up to par with most of them. what's wrong with it?
it's hazy to the point it looks washed out. it has a beautiful spectrum of colors that however gets lost in the muddiness and the low contrast. my second problem is the water. its surface looks polluted. it kills the tranquility.
composition-wise it beautiful.

This scene looks so beautiful. I'm so glad you put it up for the people. Very calm and relaxed look. I love the mountain and tree reflection on the lake, it totally completes the image. Keeping submitting more beautiful and one of a kind pictures like this!

Amazing photo, love the colours, I also like how the rocks appear almost as skipping stones out into the distance/center of the photo.
@Burn I don't think Joel was referring to the image as stunning to boast about his photography skills, like he said he wanted to show everyone the stunning landscape of the lake district which he was able to capture beautifully!

*Burn* -As Evan said, judging from Joel's participation for the last several months I don't think he's referring to his own capturing as much as to the subject itself - marveling at his surroundings and wanting others to know the same beauty.
That aside, the submission is indeed a little hazy, and considering the near-perfect nature of everything Joel does, this one does fall just short. Still nice though. And considering the sight included, it makes for a pleasant and calming background.
Thanks Joel.

I don't think you use software to improve images. Dou you Joel? If you don't, that makes you an even bigger artists. One of the reason I like landscapes is because they are hard to manipulate for people. I always pick those and have had like 3/4 of your wallpapers on my desktop over the past 5 month's. Love it, please tell me if you only did this with just the camera? As judge Amanda from BGT would say: ''That was bloody briliant!'' ;-)
Cheers Joel!

actually the colors are quite washed out, as i did this in my little portable laptop, i had a very nice experience there and for my that made it all, there was some duck fighting in the lake (shame i cant afford a prime zoom lens) ill try to submit another shot edited from my , Haldir hum all depends of what u want to get out of the landscapes, i follow Adam Bruton, Jay Patel, Varina Patel, David Norton, who are great landscape photographers who worked hard to get where they are, i don't consider myself a Pro (i wish) but i do appreciate nature and i don't mind waiting for the right shot whatever hours, about the editing bit i work a lot or trying to work a lot with layer masks very useful with landscapes, from ym camera comes out a .RAW file + a .JPG of the same shot and i base myself in the .JPG keeping in mind what i saw at the seen of shot.

Excellent shot Joel. Instant fav. Haldir, I would very much expect that Joel shoots RAW so that means there would be post work. I can think of on serious photogs that would shot JPG out of the camera. Even in digital photography is still a 2 step process. Compose/shoot and process. YMMV

Beautiful spot, no doubt. Sure it's a little washed-out, but a touch of contrast and Bob's your uncle!

I turned it into a negative, and the smoothness of the lines
is phenomenal ... Thank you for this one ..

I like the composition with the rocks leading in. It does lack a bit of contrast though - probably a good reason not to edit on laptops (as tempting as it is when you get excited about a shot away from home!).

not perfect but still I really enjoy it. it went straight to my desktop, which I haven't done to any other posted photos recently.

Shot is great. But I do agree that it's a little hazy.
I found out after toying with it in Photoshop that if you sharpen it, then add a little brightness and some more contrast, it becomes simply brilliant.

I really love this piece Joel. You have a great talent for composition and photography. I decided to change my background to this piece just because of its intense smoothness. I actually like the washed out feeling. It calms the mind and i can focus on my icons too and appreciate the photo you've taken.
Thank you Joel for sharing your talent with us.

@Joel, looks like he's stolen heaps off IFL, including one of mine. It's happened before, and if you report it and provide a link to the original, they will eventually remove it. I'll be reporting a few too.
