I love how the reflection of the firework is such a contrasting style to the actual explosion in the air. The explosion is very defined while the reflection isn't much more than a blurry circle. Very cool.

i wish i had my camera that night. i could see 3 or 4 big firework shows across puget sound looking at seattle and other areas nearby. this is really nice btw.

I agree with Demo318, the reflections are great.

I don't much like water reflections in most photos that look exactly like what they are reflecting.

I have yet to find the "magic" settings for fireworks. This year I was shooting around f/16 for between 3-5 seconds. I experimented with larger and smaller apertures, longer and shorter exposures, and I kept the ISO set to 200 but I still had a lot of grain. Nowhere near as crisp as these.

I love the way fireworks look in this photo! They aren't out of focus like in other pics I saw, and also the reflection on the water is great! And that blue sky is simply stunning!

hey which bridge was this taken from? could it possibly be in North Dakota? Great photo by the way.

It was technically in Minnesota, although ND wasn't more than a few feet away.
I tried several different shutter speeds, but 5-6 seconds seemed to be giving me the best results.

Nope; it was taken in Breckenridge, about an hour south of Moorhead.

man im from fargo and i didnt know there was such beautiful sights in North Dakota. i guess you just have to look harder. haha
