You know, ever since The Loupe came about, the released images are more often than not not up to par. It's not that they're bad. This isn't a poor release. It's just that there are far better images to vote for. Don't get me wrong: I like how the moderators have opened up the selection process to the patrons; and if most people like stuff I don't, then such is a democracy. It's just that now - being in "the loupe" - I can look and see all of the wonderful images I'm missing out on. Anyways, I'm just ranting; and no doubt even this little bit is more than enough. ciao :)

Quite a bit of noise in the background...and that hinge underneath the leaves is very distracting. Other than that a nice wallpaper.

I love this one. Very calming and beautiful. I'm pretty sure the grain in the background is for artistic effect. either way, nice shot

I agree with trout..I think that before this submission, on the Loupe there were a lot of much better photos or compositions..and I really don't understand why people didn't vote for them!

@trout, @lerch84, we hear you...

no selection, whether it is picked by photo editors or the community, will satisfy everyone. we are planning on offering downloads of Loupe submissions in the future. nothing further to announce today. it may be a few months, we're working on a lot of other exciting features at the same time... stay tuned.

Thank you for your plans to provide downloads of The Loupe submissions.

That sounds great, but please understand that I'm not upset. I hope my comment didn't read like that. As I said, "such is a democracy." I don't expect every photo to be to my liking and they certainly don't have to be.

Thank you for the response though. Keep up the dedicated and good work.

@ InterfaceLIFT Moderator

Please do. Many of the images in the Loupe are absolutely gorgeous, and for those fantastic photos to never see the light of day in the InterfaceLIFT main page is a tad disappointing. I'm looking forward to the future of InterfaceLIFT, though.

Also, I think this wallpaper fits well with Windows XP/Vista as opposed to Mac OS X, where the icon layouts are generally placed to the right as I suppose the leaf placement would be troublesome.

Oops, I forgot you can move the icons in OS X as well, so I guess my comment is void! :P

The problem with the Loupe is that there's all sorts of junk there. Ones that don't meet a minimum standard should be culled and not even eligible for votes.

That said, this isn't a bad wallpaper.

I really like this photo although there's way to much noise in the background. Without the noise it would be perfect for me but still, it's wonderful.

I really like the background!

@Chris -- Agreed. Not to be offensive, and not that I could do better (because I couldn't), but a few pics look like they have been taken with a cellphone. I mean, just putting one's own pictures up against what regularly makes it onto the front page should inform one as to whether or not their stuff is up to snuff and even worthy of submitting. Kudos to the IFL moderators who must find plenty of occasions to just shake their heads in utter disbelief. You guys have more patience then most would have - probably including me.

Noise does kind of kill it for me. But it still is nice.

Hmmm I fear ith so many photos now on the loupe, the good ones will be lost in the noise, and having them all available to download would lose the kudos of actually getting them on to the site to start with thus making it less attractive to try and photograph/make "the best" wallpaper.
I am amused at recent multiple submissions of all those lavendar photos. One wonders what that achieves.

I have to agree with acid. I don't know if the loupe/loupe downloads is a good direction for IFL. IFL has a sort of "higher class" vibe to it and allowing everything submitted available for d/l will knock the site down to "just another wallpaper site". Sorry IFL, just my honest thoughts. The loupe is actually discouraging me to submit more images.

As for this image. It is good but I would crop the left (handles) and bottom and clone out the hinge. Then perform some MAJOR noise reduction surgery before I'd use it a desktop.

I'm guessing late afternoon sun , shining through the leaves.
I have to agree with a few people here. The hinge has to be erased, and a little less noise.
Us Winnipeger's are a discriminating Bunch ... Right 'TheReal7' ?

I agree with TheReal7 (that agrees with acid), when the loupe came out I was excited, but with the time I started noticing that so many great stuff was being missed so I just stopped submitting... When you open your browser and you see that the post of the day its yours, a BIG smile comes to your face. If every single thing the community uploads gets posted, IFL would lose it's essence, this page would end like a Wallpaper FaceBook :(.... (IFL Webmasters, thik about it, please).
Q.D, this is great for a wallpaper, leaves you a lot of space for icon, keeping the contrast between the background and the leaves. Keep working ;D!

TheReal7, you verbalized what I saw when The Loupe was created. I wholeheartedly agree, and I'm glad you said it. I was having trouble figuring out how to put my thoughts to words.

So, I'm hereby voting that The Loupe be either removed, or changed somehow so that IFL doesn't get "knocked down" to the level of "just another wallpaper site", as TheReal7 put it so well.

We are definitely NOT planning on offering all the Loupe content on the front page. That would be a disaster. But those who really want to access images that weren't selected will have that option.

This photo does look better with the handles cropped and the hinge cloned out.. and the noise level major reduced as Santiago said, but then again it wouldn't be the photo that apparently so many voted on in the Loupe.
Personally, I think the loupe should go. Wasn't it only put there because a few were having conniption fits on what was being posted on the front page?

Just looking at the Loupe again... someone really has a serious purple fettish :)
Could there also be a limit imposed of uploads, say 2 a day? That is, if you are going to keep the Loupe active.

I don't understand. The Loupe says 'all reasonable submissions'. If you go there now you will see thirteen uploads of basically the same image.

I just voted for a few pictures on The Loupe and I know nothing about the fine art of picture taking aren't we perhaps selling out real "art" for "tacky pseudo art" if idiots like myself can control what happens ?

There used to be not so good stuff on the Front Page before the Loupe.
Also, I've seen some very very good images come from the Loupe selection process.

As for this image, I'd like it if not for the hinge and the noisy background.

I also very much support being able to download more pics from the Loupe.

I agree with Lord_Illidan, I would love to be able to download images from the Loupe.

I absolutely like the grain in the background and I just plain love the hinge and the handles. It's perfect the way it is for an amazing shot and perfect realistic, yet uncluttered wallpaper.
It's all about opinion. I don't know why people these days want to get rid of all the grain, probably blinded by all these air-brushed bikini-babes. I agree that chromatic noise (red speckles) is disturbing, but not the luminance (dark/light grain). It adds the finishing touch to the image.
This is a great oriental-feel-good wallpaper!
