I remember this. You had posted the link in "Spectrum of the Sky."

I love it, but I prefer both versions with the completely black background.

I was just wondering how this remake gets into the gallery but there are so many better walls in The Loupe.

I really liked The Spectrum Of The Sky, but this one has way too much going on, and feels slightly like an epileptic seizure... don't take that maliciously, please, it's not meant to offend.

I think we need to remember that wallpapers are designed to be the BACKGROUND, and should have less going on than the typical poster or raster graphic.

It's okay but the tree looks a bit off.

Macindows, thank you. You are very good at it.

ericbechtel, perhaps the word 'best' is perceived as aggressive by others, but I understand what you said. And I liked your comment.

I am in favor of diversity of wallpapers, completely, because we are not in a photo gallery, essentially. I am in favor of something new and beautiful, like this one made by Macindows - greetings to you, friend - but I do not think so when someone wants to get a 'trilogy' (just an example and I know that is not the case with this image) in the sense that one picture complete other (it is just my opinion), and do not want to be perceived as insensitive or something like that. I like this kind of work, but do not see much difference from the first idea of 'The Spectrum Of The Sky.'

I see every hour beautiful and different jobs coming, I mean, those I never expected to see some day, the originality, the beauty, imagination worked in essence, that surprises us in an overall plan, but after fifteen days I forget them. So, you can not post two at a time? Quantity and quality we have...

A big salute to all. Stay well.

Love your other wallpapers, but I agree, these gradients are really busy for a desktop.

Look forward to seeing more of your photos, Thanks.

@Beginning, not to be mean or anything, but it gets a little old having you say "not my cup o' tea" so often.. :)

Like this photo, I love the other version you did awhile back too. Thanks!

I think the critiques about this being "too busy" are way off. It's a nice piece--I actually like it better than the Spectrum of the Sky piece.

"Reconditioned version of the original ""Spectrum of a Tree"". Now at a higher resolution with two new color panels, reduced noise, and improved sharpness."

Did you change the oil, replace the wiper blades, inflate the tires and fill the tank with petrol?? :)

Actually the third from the left panel shows the end of the tree with intervening space before we reach the second from the left panel. This causes a discontinuity in the overall shape of the elongated breadth of the tree.

Macindows discards more pixels than most people ever use. I like his work. He is a thinking man's photographer; it shows in everything he does!! (How's that for sucking up?)

Dominic, you are a true Photoshop-expert. You have grat skills.
However, this wallpaper will not be downloaded by me. Too busy and too much 'The Spectrum Of The Sky'-lookalike.

Macindows certainly has a tremendous portfolio...but I don't like this one as much I like his others. Perhaps it's the multiple trunks that throws me - I could almost handle it better if only the branches and the leaves were spread out over the spectrum. I don't know - I'm no artist, so take my comments with a large grain of salt! Was a tree the right move here?

Thanks for submitting it!

Hey guys,
Well that wasn't quite the feedback I was hoping for but that's okay. I had somebody program a brand new wallpaper section for my homepage which just looks amazing! It's free and you are welcome to download my pictures in high resolution to your desktop!

Yea, thanks for submitting it. I think using the spectrum concept again was a gr8 idea, I remember reading the comments for the spectrum of the sky and users would have liked it if you used the same background for all 9 frames. Thanks for doing that with the trees but my main criticism is the tress don't looked centered (right side looks like its done right but the left side is just awful).

What you can do differently: think what u can do with the spectrum. You used the exact same "template" but if u recondition the spectrum a little bit, it can look different. Just looks like you used trees instead.

Heh, Mac, it's funny how you love this wallpaper so much, when it's one of your less impressive :)
Compared to Spectrum of the Sky, the tree subject here is just kind of bland and not very attractive. There's a lot of bad color fringing on the edges that almost looks photoshop hue-shifted.
Compared to 1000ft or Enlightenment this is gimmicky and fake.

Nice deep red and violet at the ends though.. :)

Iraimbilanja, honestly I can't hear it anymore. Yeah get it, SotS is one of the most favored wallpapers on this page and therefore, I understand that the expectations to anything which comes close to the original are quite high. Nevertheless, I uploaded SoaT BECAUSE its bigger brother is one of the most successful wallpapers here on IFL and therefore, there might be at least SOME people who like it.

But all this moaning about how gimmicky, fake, noisy, busy or you name it...honestly, I got it okay?

I'll admit, I do like the other version better but this is nice too. I've wanted to try this myself for sometime but never had the material 'til now. Here is my take on this idea: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thereal7/4099528385/in/photostream/
